Coronavirus- COVID-19

Cartagena as the whole world has been impacted by the Coronavirus and in an effort to provide information to visitors and residents, here is a list of important information about the situation in the city.

• Current Cases in Colombia 4,561 cases in Cartagena 189. (As of 4/24/20)

• The airport in Cartagena suspended incoming international flights and suspended all national flights until May 30.

• Cartagena and Colombia are in a mandatory quarantine until May 11. Here are the exceptions when you can go out:

  • To go to the grocery store and buy supplies, but only one person per family/household. The time allow to go is from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and depending on the last number of your ID. and depending on your genre. Scroll down for the schedule. You can go by car, motorcycle, bike or walking as long as is one person.

• For a medical, family or pet emergency.

• To go to the ATM.

• To walk your pet. Make sure you clean yourself and your pet’s paws when coming back in the house.

• If you work in the medical field or areas that supply basic goods, such as food.

• If you want to donate goods to the government, you can call the number +57 317 502 0440 to coordinate the delivery.

• If you are a business and can donate money to the government ,to help Cartagena please go to https://coronavirus.cartagena.gov.co/donaciones.

•If you are a business or foundation, please tell me your services or how people can donate or help. Give me your Instagram page so I can share it on my page @laguiactg. Hang in there.

Cartagena al igual que el mundo entero se ha visto afectada por el Coronavirus, y en un esfuerzo por proporcionar información a visitantes y residentes, aquí hay una lista de información importante sobre la situación en la ciudad. 

  • Casos actuales en Colombia 4,561 casos en Cartagena 189 (Al 24/4/20)

  • El aeropuerto de Cartagena suspendió los vuelos internacionales entrantes y suspendió todos los vuelos nacionales hasta el 30 de Mayo. 

  • Cartagena y Colombia están en cuarentena obligatoria hasta el 11 de Mayo. Estas son las excepciones cuando puede salir:

    • Para ir a la tienda o supermercados y comprar suministros, pero sólo una persona por familia/ hogar. Actualmente solo se puede salir de 6:00 am a 4:00 pm, y siguiendo un pico y cedula y genero. Mira la lista abajo por las dias y cedulas cuando puedas salir. Usted puede ir en coche, moto, bicicleta o caminar, siempre y cuando sea una persona.

    • Para una emergencia médica, familiar o de mascotas.

    • Para ir al cajero.

    • Para pasear a tu mascota. Asegúrese de limpiarte y limpiar las paticas de tu mascota al regresar a casa.

    • Si trabajas en el campo médico o en áreas que suministran productos básicos, como alimentos. 

  • Si desea donar bienes al gobierno, puede llamar al número +57 317 502 0440 para coordinar la entrega.  

  • Si eres una persona juridica y deseas donar dinero al govierno para ayudar a los cartageneros visita https://coronavirus.cartagena.gov.co/donaciones.

  • Si eres un negocio una fundacion, dime que servicios prestas o como la gente puedo donar o ayudar. Dame tu instagram page y la compartire en mi pagina @laguiactg. Mucha fuerza.

Carnaval de Barranquilla

Barranquilla hosts the most important carnival in Colombia. This big party is on Feb 22th to the 25th and there are many concerts and events happening in the city. This year’s main parade "La Batalla de Flores" the battle of the flowers on La Via 40, is on Feb 22.

You can reach Barranquilla from Cartagena in about 1hour and 45 minutes, taking services such as Marsol or Berlinas. It cost $24,000 COP and the difference is that Berlinas has wifi and more frequent vans going and coming back. Marsol, on the other hand, takes reservations which is convenient.

Here are some of the events happening before and during Carnaval:

  • February 6th:

    • Fiesta de Polleras de Germen de Paz.

    • Carnaval de las Artes

  • February 7th:

    • Festival de Danzas de Relacion Especiales

    • Carnaval de las Artes.

    • Coronacion Reyes Infantiles.

Carnaval Dates:

  • February 22th: Batalla de Flores

  • February 23rd: Gran Para de Tradicion y Folclor

  • February 24: Festival de Orquestas

  • February 25: Desfile de Joselito se va con las cenizas.

National Aviary 2x1

If you are interested in seeing some of these species, you should visit the “Aviario Nacional de Colombia in Baru”, about an hour away from Cartagena. There, you can see many species such as the “Rey de Gallinazos”, Condors and beautiful colorful birds such as macaws, peacocks, flamingos and much more. ⁣ And on Feb 16th the entrance is two for 1!
