Where to stay in Cartagena
Cartagena has many areas where you can spend your holiday, or long term stay.
Some of the most popular neighborhoods are The Walled City, Boca Grande, Laguito, Castillo, and Manga among others. The walled city is a great area to be in the core of the city since it has many restaurants and a lot of things to do. Popular neighborhoods are San Diego and Getsemani.
Bocagrande is full of restaurants, shops, hotels, and rental buildings, it is closed to the beach and a short 15 minutes ride to the walled city. Laguito is to close proximity to Bocagrande and is a mix of residential and hotel buildings, and is closed to the beach with few restaurants. Castillo is an exclusive mostly residential area, close to Bocagrande, and hosts the Castillo Grande beach, and is surrounded by the bay. Manga is closed to the old town is a mostly residential area, great for ex-pats.
So, if you are planning for a short holiday: The walled city, Bocagrande, and Laguito are your best options, but if you are looking for a longer stay, Getsemani, Castillo, and Manga are better options. Also, the area of Cabrero and Crespo are worth noting.
